Abrar is a self-taught artist following in the footsteps of Sadequain and Gulgee. He is a prolific artist who fuses contemporary styles with the romance of classical miniature art. M. Kazim

The late Mohammad Kazim was a renowned painter, printmaker and calligrapher. Kazim gained popularity for his Indus Valley and Mohenjo-Daro series of artworks and his depictions of women from that era. He would mold the figures with his hands using mulmul cloth and handmade paper and vegetable dyes. The figures would almost protrude in a 3D effect while the colors would be textured in soft hues.

Mashkoor Raza

Mashkoor was born in 1948 in Moradabad, India, after which his family migrated to Pakistan. He attended the reputed Karachi School of Art (KSA) and graduated in 1972 with a gold medal. He was a renowned artist worldwide and demonstrated versatility in his style working in abstract, figurative or calligraphy. His distinct style with images appearing through the layers won him great acclaim. The artist sadly passed away February 2025.

Noreen Akhtar

Noreen’s artworks are inspired by the Arabic Language. Her “Alif” series artworks highlight the importance of Alif, the first letter of the Arabic alphabet, concept of oneness, the first existence, the beginning of all things and is symbolic of God’s absolute oneness. The shape of Alif resembles the numeral 1 reinforcing the concept of God’s unity and the concept of ‘the one’. Noreen uses letters from the Arabic alphabet in abstract form and each of her series isolates and highlights one particular alphabet.

Raja Changez Sultan

Raja Changez is a poet and an artist international repute, hailing from Shakarparian, Islamabad, Pakistan. He received his MFA Degree in Creative writing and an MSc in Journalism both from Colombia University, New York, USA. In addition he also holds an honorary Doctorate in the Arts conferred on him by Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He has also served as the Director General of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. Raja Changez’s work encapsulates the interrelation of diverse forces with human beings, nature and the environment. His figurative paintings in a mist like revelation reflect his belief in the amorphousness of life where finite lines rarely exist. His Divided Self, series and Himalayan Odyssey is renowned worldwide.

S.M.Naqvi

S.M. Naqvi acquired his diploma in graphic designing from the Mashkoor Art School and was awarded the Quaid e Azam award. He has also studied art under the renowned Pakistani artist Iqbal Mehdi. Naqvi’s artworks demonstrate intensity of colors and bold strokes in abstract form. The artist aims to stir the inner soul and connects the viewer not just to the beauty of human experience in its existence but also what lies beyond the vision. Salman Farooqi

Born in Karachi, Salman Farooqi graduated with distinction from the Karachi School of Art. He also studied under Iqbal Mehdi, a senior, renowned Pakistani artist. Shaista is a self-taught artist who believes that an artist draws inspiration from beauty in human form and from expressions. Her canvases encapsulate women, nature’s most beautiful and complete creation and encaptures their great strength in tolerating pain with a smile. The pigeons or musical instruments such as a flute or sitar in her painting are symbolic of freedom of speech and a woman’s desire to be free. The jewelry on the women while giving the deception of beauty are actually symbolic of chains and restrains, which restrict them from being free.
